Hi All
So after I finished my last blog yesterday (Tuesday) I started walking and realized after about 3kms up that I forgot something in the bar. I decided to go back only because it was not mine so a planned 32km day turned into a 37 or 38 km day uphill. I had a great day the temperature was great and the scenery outstanding.
At the top of the hill is a very large cross called Cruz de Ferro which is an important Camino ritual. At the cross people lay rocks or stones that signify something that they are ready to leave behind. I arrived at around 7pm and had the entire mountain peak to myself until around 730
and as I was leaving two bikers arrived and I asked them to take my picture. So yes if you want to know I left two stones at the cross.
Around 8pm I arrived in Manjarin I was expecting rustic but not what looked like a Shantytown. If I had not completed those extra kms I would have left. But instead I stayed and spent the night in Manjarin which is run by a group related to the ancient Templar knights. Im glad I stayed I slept great despite no electricity, running water, toilet or wifi.
Wednesday the walk down the hill was magnificient. The weather was perfect and after about 26kms I arrived in Ponferrada and had the best shower.
cheers
Tim
